Preview Parties – Different dates and locations prior to each regular season concert. Several days before each WSO concert, the Council has an informal social at which we receive fascinating details about the composers and the pieces that will be performed at the concert. The Preview Parties, which serve as our General Council Meetings, are held throughout the community at businesses or in private homes.
Help is needed to organize, serve, bring food, and tidy-up after each event.
Liz Arend, VP Social
Patron Party – Thursday, February 16, 2023. The Patron Dinner is held at Ridgewood Country Club to show appreciation to our members who purchase season tickets to the WSO concerts at a Patron level or higher. This year it will not be on a concert night.
Assistance is needed in planning and organizing this event. Liz Arend, VP Social; Glenda Strum, Patron Dinner Chair
Youth and Education Programs
Children’s Concert – Tuesday, November 15, 2022. Each year the Baylor Symphony Orchestra holds several concerts in one day at Waco Hall to provide orchestral music in an age-appropriate event for all area 4th & 5th graders. WSC volunteers organize and coordinate with the area schools whose students might not otherwise have an opportunity to hear a live symphony orchestra in a concert hall. Assistance is needed at the concert.

Nutcracker Volunteers –Saturday and/or Sunday, December 10-11, 2022. WSC volunteers are needed to assist local student dancers as backstage volunteers for the Nutcracker performance; this includes directional assistance, simple help with dressing, and being a helpful chaperone. On Sunday, WSC volunteers are needed to help set up and sell merchandise at the Nutcracker Store in the lobby of Waco Hall before the performance and during intermission (possibly afterwards if merchandise still remains).
Belles and Brass –
Various dates for meetings – Presentation and Gala on Saturday, March 25, 2023.
Juniors from our area high schools will be presented at a gala this spring. This is a new special event this year. Girls (Belles) enroll as sophomores and continue through their junior year. Boys (Brass) enroll and serve their junior year. The program includes greeting at concerts, a multi-course etiquette dinner, and leadership skills training. These young people are sponsored by their parents or grandparents who are WSO season ticket holders at the Sustainer Level or higher.
