Preview Parties – (different dates and locations prior to each regular season concert). Several days before each WSO concert, the Council has an informal social. Maestro Stephen Heyde joins us to give fascinating details about the composers and the pieces that will be performed at the concert. The Preview Parties, which serve as our General Council Meetings, are held throughout the community at businesses or in private homes.
Help is needed to organize, serve, bring food, and tidy-up after each event.

Youth and Education Programs
Belles and Brass –
(Various dates for meetings – Presentation, March 20, 2021).
Juniors from our area high schools are presented at the March
WSO concert each spring. Girls (Belles) enroll as sophomores and
continue through their junior year Presentation. Boys (Brass)
enroll and serve their junior year. The program includes a
multi-course etiquette dinner, leadership skills training. These
young people are sponsored by their parents or grandparents who
are WSO season ticket holders at the Sustainer Level or higher.

Children’s Concert. Each year
the Baylor Symphony Orchestra holds several concerts in one day
at Waco Hall to provide orchestral music in an age-appropriate
event for all area 4th & 5th graders. WSC volunteers organize
and coordinate with the area schools whose students might not
otherwise have an opportunity to hear a live symphony orchestra
in a concert hall. Assistance is needed at the concert.

Nutcracker Ballet. Once every two years the Council coordinates auditions in early fall for our young area dancers performing with the professional ballet company which presents the well-loved Nutcracker Ballet. We also assist with the sale of nutcrackers at the concert. Assistance is needed at the concert.
