President's Message

Welcome to the Waco Symphony Council

The Waco Symphony Council has been honored to serve and support the Waco Symphony Orchestra for 56 years! As the 2017-18 President of the Waco Symphony Council, I am thrilled to represent almost 500 members whose mission is to support and further the interests of the Orchestra through their time and talents. Maestro Stephen Heyde, the WSA and the many talented musicians of the Orchestra are working hard to present an outstanding concert line-up by amazing composers.

The Council is proud to present our 2017-18 programs. We are especially excited to announce our first annual "Symphony of the City: Art and Architecture of Waco." Our fundraising volunteers and four gracious host couples have planned an exquisite Progressive Cocktail party, featuring beautiful art and unique architecture of four lovely Waco homes. Join us February 10, 2018 for this amazing evening of music, art, architecture, and socializing.

Continuing our mission of promoting classical music education for Central Texas youth, we are looking forward to the Children's Concerts, where over 6,000 elementary school children get to experience a day at the Symphony with the Baylor Symphony Orchestra, some for the very first time, as well our new version of Zootunes!, our collaboration with Cameron Park Zoo.

The highlight of our WSC season will culminate at the March 24 concert with the Belle and Brass Presentation. The evening will honor Waco's outstanding high school juniors as they finish a year of programs and service including ushering at WSO concerts, a music appreciation seminar, community service and leadership training, and concert and dining etiquette.

We invite you to join the Waco Symphony Council. Membership includes an invitation to our Member Preview parties, where our members get to meet before each concert, enjoying food and drinks and the coveted chance to hear Maestro Stephen Heyde discuss the background and history behind the music and the composer for the upcoming concert. We will continue to honor our patrons at our annual Patron Party in January.
