President's Message

Celebrating 49 years of support to the Waco Symphony Orchestra

Rita Hull
President
For 49 years the Council has been the major volunteer organization for the support of the Waco Symphony Orchestra

The Waco Symphony Orchestra has left a permanent imprint on the cultural life of Waco. For the past 50 years our orchestra has been led by two fine conductors, Dr. Daniel Sternberg and Dr. Stephen Heyde. This year will also mark 25 years under the leadership of Dr. Stephen Heyde. We are extremely fortunate to experience one of the finest orchestras in Texas. As the volunteer arm of the Waco Symphony Association, the Waco Symphony Council assists our Orchestra through fundraising, educating our children and youth and creating a community of symphony supporters.

In honor of the WSO’s 50th year, the Waco Symphony Council is planning many interesting and fun events to further assist the orchestra. We will begin the celebration with a new and exciting fundraiser “Painted Strings with a Flair for the Dramatic.” Our Belle and Brass program kicks off in the fall, along with the Children’s Concert at Waco Hall and ZooTunes!. After the New Year begins we will continue celebrating with a special treat at our Valentines’ Pops Concert, and conclude the concert season with three events: the Golden Anniversary Brunch and Style Show, the Belle and Brass Presentation at the concert and the Golden Anniversary Reception following the concert. Throughout the concert season the Waco Symphony Council hosts Preview Parties before most concerts. This coming year is full of activities, opportunities to meet great people and to give back to our community through assistance to our Orchestra.

I hope that you will join our great organization. The Waco Symphony Council is a wonderful way to get involved in Waco, meet good people and make a difference.
